PRODUCER OF THE DE FACTO INDUSTRY
STANDARD TEXT TERMINAL
HISTORY
MORE THAN THREE DECADES OF INNOVATION IN TECHNOLOGY.
Uniterm was established in 1990 to produce a robust solid state UNIX workstation in the days prior to Linux and Windows servers.
Uniterm commenced computer hardware and embedded software development early in the digital era prior to globalisation and outsourcing, when electronics design and manufacture was a self-sufficient and in house process.
The first products are based on the IBM XT architecture with many of them still out there being used on a daily basis. Production techniques evolved with product, from hand soldering to mechanical wave soldering and then robotic assembly.
Through innovation and constant research the product evolved from state machine on 8086 processor to Linux OS on Celeron processor.
Many South African industry firsts were achieved along the way.
